Abstract
This contribution deals with a constructive method for the derivation of flat
outputs of nonlinear multi-input systems. Based on a pfaffian system representation we introduce a triangle-form which possesses
desirable properties with respect to the characterization of flat outputs. This triangle-form will be derived
successively by means of coordinate transformations which decompose the given system. The goal of this decomposition
is to obtain a subsystem from which so-called non-derivative variables can be computed if a solution of the other subsystem
is known. By repeating this procedure the desired triangle-form is generated
