    Abstract

    This thesis deals with the needs and expectations of the members of Bio-Austria Upper Austria. With the aid of a survey those needs were ascertained and analyzed. The results were compared to the offers of the association and improvement possibilities were compiled. The survey served also to measure the perception or appraisal of the association on the part of the bio-farmers and to react to it. The theoretical part acts from the history of the origin and the basic ideas of the different biological cultivation methods in Austria. The control system is explained and the advantages of the organic farming are illustrated on the basis of ecological, health and economic aspects. The motivation of fifteen organic associations to unite and build one big associations is as explained as the realisation of this idea and also the problems linked with it. In addition are the essential factors of influence of the agriculture in Austria explained. Especially the EU guidelines and their changes in the year 2009, the four programs of the ÖPUL, as well as an explanation and criticism of the main settlement of the fourth and last ÖPUL running from 2007 to 2013 and the trends in the bio market are mentioned.
