Abstract

XML is used as data exchange format. Nowadays more and more XML-databases exist. Therefore it is necessary to execute queries on these databases. XSL T is a language for the structural transformation, e.g. the customised presentation, of XML documents. XQuery has been defined as query language for XML data and is planned to reach an extension, as SQL within the segment of relational databases. Common browsers already support XSL T but XQuery is hardly supported. The aim of this diploma thesis is to design a translator from the language XQuery to the language XSL T, which allows combining the advantages of XQuery with those of XSL T. Furthermore the designed translator should be implemented prototypically.
