Wohnen in Gallneukirchen - lebenswert, sicher, teuer. Leistbares Wohnen als kommunalpolitische Herausforderung

The issue of “affordable housing” receives much attention in media as well as politics, and above all plays a large role in the everyday lives of many people. This article focuses on the level of municipality politics. Upon a suggestion of a local initiative, a survey of citizens of the municipality on the topic of housing was carried out using written questionnaires in cooperation with the JKU Linz. The background of the project, the main results, and the resulting initiatives are the main focus of this article. Furthermore, the possibilities and limits of municipality politics in this area of policy will be discussed.
