    Abstract

In the context of the global system of emission trading, there are a range of different standards and mechanism to verify and certify afforestation and reforestation projects and consequently to generate carbon credits. First, this thesis will give an overview about the general framework and necessary requirements to participate on the global emission trading system. The analytic model will give theoretical advises to implement an afforestation and reforestation project, to generate carbon credits and to trade them on the emission market. The following case study will combine theory and practice. It will analyse a planned project from the company “Teak Holz International AG” and check the feasibility as well as it cost effectiveness. At least, a short summary will compress the gained findings and give information about chances and risks of the system of emission trading. Furthermore, possible future prospects in relation to the trade with carbon credits will be given.
