Abstract
The liberalization process in the electricity markets of the EU causes many conse-quences for electric power supply companies, also in terms of an increased use of renewable energies. First the new circumstances which are the result of this devel-opment are described in this dissertation, especially dealing with the ecological aspects of the liberalization. In the following part chances and potentials of the individual renewable energies to fulfil the legally required minimum amounts of ecologically produced electrical power are identified. Concrete environmental management strategies for electric power suppliers in the liberalized market are finally described in the final part of the work.
