Abstract
The aim of this work is to grant an insight into the requirements, the possible methods of recycling and the developments in the car wash market. The work is divided into two sections.
The first part is concerned with the long lasting effect regarding water management, an analysis of the present situation and the future prospects of water management in Austria. The cause of water pollution and the effects on the eco - system and man are shown as well as the measure of protection for water - sensitive areas. The norms, regulations and guidelines of the EU and Austria as well as the options for the protection and conservation of water as a resource conclude the first part.
The second part of this work offers general information about the development and future of the car wash market. This is followed by a detailed description of a self-service and a drive - through car wash facility as an illustration of one case. Various options of recycling methods and procedures of mechanico- physical treatment of waste water are explained as well as the use of a ground water well and its importance as a potential economy measure for water requirements.
The work concludes with an analysis of the cost- effectiveness of a recycling plant, a circulation of the total requirement of water for the individual parts of the plant and an assessment of the potential profitability of a car wash facility in a given locality.
