Abstract
Today a high amount of different tourism information systems exists. For the potential tourist it would be very useful to be able to search information about his holidays in all of these separate systems, without learning the different user interfaces and functional structures. In this contribution an architecture and a new query language will be introduced to simplify data access to heterogeneous tourism information systems (TI-systems). There are many challenges to solve like different database systems in the background of the TI-systems, the presentation of information in various datamodels, different languages and so on. The main parts of the architecture, a general data model, the new query language TIS-QL are presented and a short example shows the steps of the process using the query language, in performing a query at a real TI-system.
