Abstract

This paper focuses on the characterization of soft magnetic materials with ring-shaped specimens and presents a novel concept based on analytical models for the determination of systematic measurement uncertainties. Thus, the influences of simplifying assumptions in the evaluation of measurement data as well as non-idealities in the measuring concept can be investigated. In addition to systematic measurement uncertainties, random measuring errors due to limited accuracies and manufacturing tolerances occur that will be quantified by using Gaussian error propagation. The presented models are validated by measurements and the effect of total uncertainties on the output of the numerical evaluation of electrical machines presented.
