Abstract

A flat double-stator linear induction machine (DSLIM) with short squirrel-cage mover is investigated for driving a free piston compressor. The motor performance is determined on the basis of an equivalent circuit model (ECM) in Matlab Simulink and a finite element model (FEM) in Ansys Maxwell 2015. It is shown that the proposed motor can operate the compressor by field oriented control. Additionally, the reduction of friction losses and several stroke control methods are investigated and compared regarding high efficiency.
