Abstract
This publication discusses the evolution of strategies in regional development and its environmental impacts, especially considerations dealing with circuit economies in context with an environmentally orientated regional planning. The first part of the contribution concentrates on regional networks and its reasons for the current increase of importance. The second part treats of management of systems as one method for coping with advancing regional complexity. Regional patterns of order are explained in detail and orientation of material streams of companies and regions are outlined as a major contribution to the development of regional systems.
