Abstract
Autonomous vehicles have been anticipated for decades, and the first
remote-controlled vehicles appeared, in fact, in the 1920s. Today, many vehicles are equipped with intelligent functionalities, such as lane-keeping assistance and automated braking. But, self-driving vehicles require a higher level of automation and features, including the detection of other vehicles and pedestrians, and the monitoring of the manual driver’s behavior in case control needs to be handed back.
