Abstract

Robust communication concepts and/or synchronization algorithms represent one of the most important aspects for high rate wireless communication systems. In this work efficient concepts and algorithms for the estimation and compensation of IQ imbalance are developed. The investigations are based on the concept of a Single Carrier System with Frequency Domain Equalization (SC/FDE), as the underlying data structure is optimally suited for synchronization purposes. Novel algorithms are developed in the time and frequency domain, which allow to estimate and compensate the IQ imbalance almost completely – for the case of AWGN as well as multi-path propagation.
