Abstract
This book covers the foundations of object-oriented programming, design and coding techniques as well as a realistic case study of an object-oriented window system with a text and a graphics editor. Using UML notation, the book shows for which problems the object-oriented technology is suitable. The programming language used throughout this book is Oberon-2, a modern successor to Pascal. The third edition of the book contains new chapters on design patterns and contracts, an extended coverage of frameworks as well as a glossary.
