Abstract

Measurement of rotor position in bearingless motors is of essence for proper operation of bearingless motor, if measuring is not accurate and fast it could lead to the collision of rotor and stator which could end with motor destruction. This paper presents new concept for rotor position measurement based on Eddy current principle. The concept presented in paper is based on injection locking between oscillators. Two opposite pairs of oscillators are electrically coupled via resistor, and phase shift between oscillators is proportional to rotor movement.
