Abstract
The master thesis addresses a sustainable shaping of mobility with focus on rural areas. On the one hand a literature review was employed, which examined the current provision of rural areas with public transport. In rural areas the public transport system faces challenges, which are caused by changes in the population’s demography, working people moving into cities and the rural population’s above-average motorization. The needs regarding mobility change and regular public transport is not appropriate to meet the demands of the different user groups because it does not represent an alternative to the own car. Micro-public-transport-systems possess the potential to bridge the supply gap by creating a demand-oriented sustainable mobility supply. For this reason the micro-public-transport-systems on-call bus and car-sharing were investigated further in the thesis. On the other hand an empirical investigation was conducted, which evaluated the sustainable mobility project “Mobilcard Krenglbach” so as to gain practical insights about the demand-oriented micro-public-transport-systems’ on-call bus and car-sharing potentials.
