Modeling of Lumped Mechatronic Systems and Calculus of Variations

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference proceedings

Abstract

This contribution deals with problems of calculus of variations constraint by a set of differential and algebraic equations (DAEs). DAEs are a natural approach for the modelling of lumped parameter systems in Mechatronics. We present a method for a class of DAEs, which are transformable to an explicit control system in principle. Since the proposed approach does not use this transform explicitly, only a transform to a canonical form for DAEs is used, the Euler-Lagrange equations of the variational problem are derivable by pure algebraic manipulation.
