Abstract
Often the goals of controlling structures and machines are to achieve tracking, to reject disturbances, both in a robust manner and at least asymptotically. To reach them, a model based approach for the controller design based on dissipativity and internal models will be presented and applied to the gap control problem of mill stands in steel rolling mills and to the problem of vibration attenuation for plates with piezoelectric actuators. Simulations for the first application and measurements of the second one show the applicability of this approach.
