Abstract
In the scientific literature many methods and metrics for the evaluation of business processes are recommended without examining their suitability. An attempt of [Haus96,126] uses demands derived from accounting to evaluate the suitability of evaluation methods for business processes; however, it is questionable whether he thereby covers business process management. This article uses a deductive approach to build a systematic scheme for the generation of requirements for methods for the evaluation of business processes. Selected methods and metrics for business processes are presented, fitted into this scheme, and evaluated. The need for further research is derived.
