[Me4N]5[WOS3(CuCl)3Cl]Cl2 - a Cluster Compound with Alternating Anion Packing

Abstract

Orange-yellow plate-like crystals of the title compound were obtained from the reaction of [Me4N]2WO2S2 or [Me4N]WOS3 with CuCl and [Me4N]Cl in MeCN solution. They are hexagonal, space group P63cm (No. 185), with unit cell parameters a = 11.638(4)Ä, c = 17.970(7)Ä, Z = 2. The crystal structure was determined from single crystal X-ray diffraction data (MoKalpha-radiation) and refined to R = 0.049. The structure is characterized as an alternating packing of cubane-like [WOS3(CuCl)3Cl]3- and Cl- anions.
