Abstract
Access to and working in Mathematics is still a very difficult task for blind pupils. The aim of MAWEN (Mathematical Working Environment) is to support the work of blind users, facilitating their understanding and helping them to carry out calculations, while facilitating inclusion in mainstream environment. Indeed more and more such pupils are attending mainstream schools, so it is necessary that these tools are usable with teachers who do not have a specific knowledge of Braille. This paper will present the state of the art in access to math for blind people and demonstrate first results of the MAWEN system.
