Abstract
The detection of ferromagnetic objects at distances of 100 mm between sensor and object turns out to be a tough task. On basis of simulations and tests the detection is carried out by measuring the magnetic flux density variation by magnetic sensors due to the object moving into their observed area. An amplification circuit to supply the sensors and to read out their output signals was designed and mounted into a prototype. First tests showed that the detector is able to reliably identify the objects at even higher distances.
