Abstract
Light weight and high power density are contemporary demands on electrical motors in a lot of industrial and transportation applications. By designing high-speed devices, the output power can be increased without affecting construction volume and weight. If an application requires low output speeds, a gearing function has to be added. In this paper, the optimization of a new topology comprising a high speed motor and a magnetic gear is discussed. Also, first measurements of a prototype are presented.
