Abstract
Compared to permanent magnet synchronous machines, magnetic geared motors offer higher torque densities. Up to now, the studied magnetically geared permanent magnet machine topologies were almost exclusively designs in which the motor and the magnetic gear were arranged coaxially in the same plane. This paper presents a new magnetically geared machine in side-by-side arrangement of motor and coaxial magnetic gear. The concept, the design process, the prototype and first measurements are presented.
