Abstract
In this thesis, a cost-effective data transmission system with a quiescent current of less than 2µ is presented. The system uses a power supply line with an operating
voltage of less than 15V as communication channel and a master-slave con?guration
to transmit data over copper wires up to a cable length of several meters in half-
duplex mode. The system is designed for self-powered or battery-powered devices
where low electrical power consumption is vital for a long battery lifetime. In order to achieve the design requirements a mathematical model of the circuit is presented and used to determine reasonable values for the electronic components.
