Abstract
In a clinical study evaluating short time effects of a lipid containing tear substitute good compatibility was found in all patients. Though blurred vision after application had been expected because of the emulsive character of the tear film substitute, it lasted longer than originally expected. Subjective symptoms such as dryness, itching, stinging, photophobia and a sticky sensation improved. No change in tear break-up time, rose bengal staining and the Schirmer test with local anesthetic was observed.
