Abstract
Due to the increasing importance of data for organizations, the idea of sharing data has become vital to stay competitive. Different concepts have been discussed to allow the integration of heterogeneous data between different participants. Most prominently, data ecosystems, data platforms, and dataspaces have found attention from different sides. However, the implementation and use of dataspaces remain unclear, as many different factors influence the successful adoption. With the current research, we aim to contribute to this field by applying a structured mapping approach to identify them. We found that there are two main dimensions – technical and management, consisting of sub-dimensions, three of which have been newly developed from the sample data. Inparticular security as well as organizational and cross-organizational implementation. Besides this, we identified dataspaces as the technological backbone for the adoption of data ecosystems, considering some preconditions.
