Abstract
In December 2013 the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) released a framework for integrated reporting, which aims at integrating financial and nonfinancial reporting. This thesis presents the reporting obligations for Austrian companies, the common means of non-financial reporting as well as further instruments of voluntary disclosure. In addition, it is explained why a shift to integrated reporting seems necessary and the development of the IIRC along with the main elements of the IIRC framework are presented. To evaluate the status quo of integrated reporting, a survey among representatives of Austrian listed companies at the Vienna stock exchange was carried out. Some of the main findings are that Austrian companies do not act as pioneers in integrated reporting, however a certain knowledge about it and a positive attitude towards integrated reporting was identified.
