Abstract

In this paper we look at the stability of job creation in new and old firms using data from the universe of Austrian employment spells. It can be shown that new jobs in new firms are considerably more long-lived than comparably new ones in already established firms. These results can be important for an assessment of structural change as well as concerning the promotion of start-up activities.
