    Abstract

    The research objective of this thesis is to identify new challenges in public administration that result in the need of advanced education and training of executive personnel. Subsequently, the quality of this training shall be evaluated. For this purpose, the current situation in public administration will be analyzed first. Following an account thereof, necessary skills of executive personnel will be identified and possible forms of training will be described. One of the magistrates in Upper Austria serves as a case study, where interviews concerning advanced education and training in the middle management will be conducted. For the purposes of this thesis, the method of a qualitative, guided interview was chosen. The interview results shed light on the quality of offered training , as well as on the satisfaction with the offer of the personnel development. Finally, theses are testet on the performed consultation in order to obtain an idea of the improvement potential.
