Abstract

For a hydraulic cylinder drive consisting of a valve block, a bent pipeline, and a hydraulic cylinder, an experimental modal analysis is performed. The excitation is constituted by a flow rate pulse through a fast switching valve; pressure pulsations and mechanical vibrations are measured. Frequency response functions between flow rate and pressure or velocity are used to identify natural frequencies, damping ratios, and coupled hydraulic-mechanical mode shapes.
