Abstract
Various advanced tools have been developed for supporting individual tasks in electronic publishing processes. However, tools efficiently supporting the publishing process itself are still missing. The development of high-quality publications requires full control of the publishing process as well as efficient communication between cooperating partners. An integrated document and workflow management system supplies the missing link to support the electronic publishing process based on groupware technology. The application of such a system guarantees that people can communicate more efficiently, at the same time preserving the integrity of publication data, and fully controlling the publishing process.
