Abstract
The awareness of environmental problems is rising due to the noticeable effects of the climate change. Therefore, it is important to discuss numerous reduction strategies for problems in education. This requirement seems better to achieve in more recent forms of education, such as constructivism, than in traditional education. Compared to an active activity, where learners discover or solve problems on their own, passive participation does not strengthen content in the long run.
In order to meet this demand, a simulation game focusing on environment and sustainability was developed for economic education in schools and universities. The overarching goal of this diploma thesis can be seen in the learner's improving awareness of this topic.
The aim of the theoretical part is to give a comprehensive insight into the simulation method and the idea of sustainable development as a frame of sustainable supply chain management. These chapters lead to a better understanding of the self-designed simulation game "chocolate made fair". In the practical part all preliminary considerations, game documents and the implementation results are presented. The topic of the simulation game was chosen based on the results of previous chapters.
