Abstract

The application and adaptation of watermarking methodologies within databases is an emerging technological interest, especially with respect to the vastly growing number of publicly available online databases. In order to ensure integrity, detect malicious modification and protect ownership rights, this document attempts to discuss different opportunities and techniques towards steganographic information hiding in general and digital watermarking routines for relational data and generative information systems in particular. Hereby, all common architectural layers of database management systems are taken into account, and novel watermarking approaches are proposed and illustrated in-depth.
