Abstract
This contribution deals with the generalization of geometric structures regarding port-Hamiltonian systems from the finite-dimensional to the infinite-dimensional scenario. Based on a mechanical example, the Timoshenko beam, different port-Hamiltonian formulations for partial differential equations will be analyzed and compared. The main focus is on analyzing structural properties of differential equations, which are important from a control theoretic point of view.
