Abstract
To tackle the two core tasks of universities, research and teaching, different models of financing have been developed and introduced in western industrial and service focused economies. Alt-hough these funding systems vary widely across OECD countries, with multiple combinations of diverse systems (which are themselves determined by historical and specific national, political and cultural factors) some international trends can still be identified. Within the framework of this diploma thesis, these trends in the financing of study places, their prerequisites and design variants are to be presented. In addition, strategies and experiences of selected countries on this financing model are to be included in the work. Afterwards current considerations of a study place financing in Austria and currently planned introduction scenarios are examined.
