Die Qualifikation von Umweltmanagern in EMAS-validierten Unternehmen

My dissertation with the title ?The manager of environmental management systems ? a presentation of his position, functions and qualifications in austrian companies? is about persons, who are responsible for environmental care in companies. If an enterprise decides to implement an environmental management system according to the standards of the decree of the european union for an Environmental Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), one person has to be specified, which is responsible for the implementation and the maintenance of the management system. In order to do this, the manager of the environmental management and audit scheme has to carry out different tasks. Which tasks they have to carry out and how often was one point which should be analysed in the dissertation. Furthermore it was interesting, which position environmental managers take in austrian companies, which education and experience they have, which qualifications they mainly need to carry out their duties and how often they attend continuing education. As there is rarely information about the situation of environmental managers in Austria, the dissertation includes a study about these facts. The first part of the dissertation is about the theoretical background of environmental management and audit schemes and about different persons who are responsible for environmental care within firms. Based on the information of the first part, the second part of the dissertation deals with the study and its results. The study was carried out within all austrian companies which already have implemented an environmental management and audit scheme. It was based on a questionaire form and the results were presented tabular as well as by graphics.
