Abstract

In this contribution we propose a method to determine the composition of transparent liquids by determining its Verdet constant as a function of the wavelength within the visible spectrum. The method is exemplified by measurements containing various mixtures of sunflower and rapeseed oil. Preliminary findings suggest, that this method should provide a comparatively fast, inexpensive, and precise way to analyze liquids like vegetable oils non-destructively. This may be especially important to determine the concentration of certain contaminants.
