Abstract
This paper deals on the one hand with dangerous substances and on the other hand with Integrated Management Systems. In the first part of this work a distinction between the two terms dangerous substances (refers to in-plant) and hazardous goods (refers to transport) is made. Regulations for the use of dangerous substances and preparations in-plant as well as hazardous goods during transport are found in many related laws. The target of this paper is to give an overview over existing laws in this area.
Starting from the legal position this paper looks into the details of handling dangerous substances in relevant departments within a company. Subsequent to the internal part, risks of hazardous goods during transport are considered. In the following, regulations of air transportation, water transport and road haulage are illustrated. Due to the relevance for Austria the main focus lies on the transport of hazardous goods on the road.
The final part of this paper deals with Integrated Management Systems. Therefore interfaces to other Management Systems (quality, environment, health) are described, potential approaches to integration are given and finally the connection to the main topic dangerous substances is explained.
