D2.4 (Combined Simulation Framework for local and global interactions including description (WP8 Task 8.6 with support))

Research output: Working paper and reportsResearch report

Abstract

The next step in the research line of SOCIONICAL, actually covered by this deliverable, is to work towards a model evaluation framework that facilitates (local) interaction in real time, e. g., by integrating human behavior models and real traces of human agents. Closely related to these developments is project objective "OII.7: Development of a mixed level simulation framework: integrating real "live" human interactions in virtual reality with the large scale distributed, agent based simulation [..]".Deliverable D2.4 and the corresponding task T8.6 mainly needed to incorporate two aspects, firstˆ mixed level simulation, and second integration with virtual reality environment. For the former, the consortium committed to use the Allianz Arena scenario to show model integration at different scales/levels and with different types of models (e. g., Helbing force model, CA model based on Moore neighborhood). These models are applied to certain areas in and outside the stadium to show the complete movement trajectory of agents from their seats in the stadium until they have reached out (i. e., out of the stadium, towards the parking garage, merging outside the car park, entering the highway, etc.). In addition, feedback loops were integrated into the centrally controlled simulation environment to allow informing and adaptation of previous stages from situations/behavior occurring on one of the next levels, e. g., to inform spectators in the stadium to keep staying there as there is a traffic jam in garage 2, and no way to leave it within the next time (half an hour, etc.). The second aspect (integration with virtual reality, VR interface) was mainly covered by the group work of partners FHG and AGH by showing the integration of real human agents into the FireSim environment.
