Coupling Effects in Multistand Rolling Mills

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference proceedings

Abstract

This paper focused on the analytical description of the interactions between the strip and the millstand manageable for a later controller design but exact enough to describe the essential physical effects. For simplicity and clarity we restrict ourselves to 2 mill stands with ideal adjustments connected via one strip element. The presented nonlinear model is not only valid around a stationary point but over the full operating range which can be described by the rollforce model in a sufficient way. Further a not commonly used method of implementing this system for simulation is presented and finally we giv an idea of how to eleminate the repercussions of the second millstand on the first one.
