Controlled queueing systems with heterogeneous servers. Dynamic optimization and monotonicity properties

Research output: BookMonograph

Abstract

Many real-life phenomena, such as computer systems, communication networks, manufactoring systems, supermarket checkout lines can be represented by means of queueing models. The queues with a controller may considerably improve the system performance by reducing queue lengths, or increasing the throughput, or diminishing the overhead. The book devoted to the study of queueing systems with several heterogeneous servers and different types of input and service processes. The servers are differed by their processing intensities and prices. The problem consists in control of the system in order to optimize one of two given criteria: the long-run mean delivery time and the long-run mean processing cost minimization.
