Abstract

The objective of the presented research program is to develop and design a prototype system for measuring the length of a moving log in an outdoor environment. Investigations are made on two diffe-rent sensor concepts. One system applies microwaves and evaluates the Doppler-shift, the other concept uses image sensors and digital image processing.
