Abstract
The services of a SOA may be developed, deployed, and operated by different parties. As a result, services may evolve independently and approaches and guidelines for service evolution and versioning are needed. We have developed a versioning approach for enterprise services in the banking domain, which is based on the notion of service compatibility. In this paper we provide rules for determining and ensuring compatibility of enterprise services that are accessed using different middleware technologies. The presented rules enable a homogeneous and technology-independent treatment of evolving services.
