Abstract

Reconfigurable multi-band/multi-standard equipment will be the key for future infrastructure business. By using broadband RF-frontends a reconfigurable base station can serve different communication standards in several frequency bands. This contribution describes the circuit design of a fully integrated broadband I/Q-modulator. The SiGe BiCMOS chip was designed for a frequency range starting at 400MHz up to 2.7GHz to cover the frequency bands for UMTS, GSM, EDGE, and CDMA2000. Measurement results show an output channel power of up to -1.9 dBm with a temperature dependence of -0.024 dBm/°C.
