Abstract

In this paper a multi-channel 77-GHz radar with digital beamforming capabilities, designed for blast furnace burden surface monitoring is presented. Various system design aspects such as RF and baseband electronics, signal processing algorithms and housing design are discussed. Furthermore measurement results collected inside a fully operative blast furnace using a radar prototype with 16 transmitters and 64 receivers are presented.
