Abstract
The aim of this thesis is the development of a sustainability assessment tool for the raw material management of companies, which is designed to fulfill the main criterion of practical applicability. This is particularly interesting for companies, which hold high proportions of nonrenewable resources and where the management is not in capture of the technological and human resources, which are required to conduct expensive assessment in the particular sustainability areas environment, profitability and society. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part is a summary of the most important theories and methods in the scientific area of sustainability assessment and the second part deals with the creation of the assessment tool. In order to identify suitable ecological, economical and social indicators, impact categories with a range of different indicators are defined. Subsequently, the indices for the final version of the tool are selected on basis of the criteria practicability, scientific character and completeness. The results are illustrated in a spider chart.
