Abstract
This article treats some questions concerning the importance of evaluation in IS practice, research and teaching. In IS practice, the importance can be expressed as the contribution of IS decision making quality to business success. This contribution is considerable with an improving tendency. For Business Informatics (BI) as a real science, this statement leads to the conclusion that scientific contributions which help to solve evaluation problems in practice are necessary to achieve the research objectives of this discipline. To meet the increasing requirements of the labor market, BI students' qualification profile should be added by evaluation know-how.
