Application of information theory methods in signal processing as in the load curve analysis

Abstract

The prediction of signal samples is an important part of many technical applications. It is possible to determine the maximum prediction gain with pure signal analysis using information theoretic methods. This result allows to assess prediction methods and to decide, whether it is possible at all to find an improved prediction method for the investigated signals. The results are applied to the load curve analysis and prediction.
