    Abstract

The fact that the anthropogenic greenhouse effect accelerates global warming is widely recognized in science. The aim of the thesis was to evaluate various combinations of energy drive systems for their potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of the individual road traffic. Following a detailed analysis, six different green energy drive systems were selected and compared with a conventional drive system using the example of the car model smart fortwo. In the course of this also socioeconomic factors were taken into consideration. Based on the results, the electric drive with a high-performance battery is considered to be the target technology. Because of the insufficient energy density, long charging time, and the high costs of current batteries, purely electrically driven cars are currently not in the position of reaching a wide customer segment. Therefore, appropriate improvements are necessary. Regenerative methane as fuel has emerged as a promising bridging technology. On the one hand the methane can be generated from carbon dioxide and hydrogen using the methods Solar-Fuel or Greentech, and on the other hand from biomass.
